Waterholes Guest House, between the Great Alpine Road and the Gippsland Lakes is a modern boutique wilderness resort located in a natural clearing of 42 acres surrounded by uninhabited forests.
The clear stony Nicholson River winds through the property which was originally settled as a market garden serving small gold-mining communities.
Short walks lead out into a variety of ecosystems – riparian, forest and wetland. Night-life can be discovered using a spotlight and outdoor lounges are provided for stargazing surrounded by grazing kangaroos.
Three large individually styled suites ensure total comfort, peace, and privacy. Each suite has a private balcony suspended above a valley full of birdsong.
Large baths, king-sized beds, soft white cotton sheets and woollen underlays and duvets match the natural surroundings in quality.
Waterholes Guest House is esteemed for its cuisine which includes fresh local produce and is designed around guests’ preferences making dining relaxed and enjoyable. Although Waterholes Guest House has been operating only 5 years it has been featured on Postcards and Great Outdoors and has won numerous awards. The very small number of people here at any one time and the high standard of hosting creates a genuine feeling of privilege and specialness for guests.
Whether spending the first/last night of a Sydney to Melbourne Coastal Drive here or staying longer to explore the Buchan Caves, the Gippsland Lakes, or the Great Alpine Road and snow country, Waterholes will add to the total experience in a unique and wonderful way.
