Select Tours of Perth
No matter what direction you turn to, Perth has plenty to offer that can impress and fascinate even the most discriminating tourist. Traveling north will lead you to golden sands and red-dirt dreamlands, south takes you to the ancient forests of Karri and Jarrah, the breath-taking Darling Ranges are in the east while the Indian Ocean and Swan River are out west.
Upon arriving in Perth, we recommend that you start your visit with a tour of the city to see what it has to offer. You can hop on the Central Area Transit that loops central Perth (it's free!) which stops at popular spots such as London Court, His Majesty's Theater and the WACA sports-ground or, if you prefer a guided tour, take the City Explorer Tram that will lead you to the leading tourist destinations in the city, including Kings Park and the Swan River.
On the other hand, if you want to tour in style, there are luxury chauffeured tours available or perhaps a tour on horseback up the Perth foreshore will capture your fancy or a scenic flight with Kookabura Air. If you're really in the mood for something different, try the ghost walk through Fremantle's haunted structures. It will surely give you a story or two to tell your friends when you head back home.
Among the other popular city tours available are the Let's Go Shopping Tours that visit various popular shopping venues, the Aboriginal Heritage Tour, the Perth and Swan River by Night tour (a special favorite of couples) and the Perth and Fremantle Morning Sights tour. In addition, many tourist attractions arrange their own tours such as those staged by Perth Mint, Perth Zoo, Kings Park, Fremantle Prison and the Old Observatory.
By no means should you end your tour within the city limits because there is so much more to see beyond the central sights. A trip up north will lead you to the Pinnacles, the Sunset Coast and Yanchep National Park. Move further up north via the Eco Activity Tour and take the Water, Wildlife and Winery Tour on a day trip to the region's vineyard territory, its alluring flora and fauna, including the spectacular sight of a bed of wildflowers in season and to the Aquarium of WA, one of the most popular attractions of Western Australia.
Swan Valley is an excellent place to savor some of the state's best artworks, wines and local produce. The best time to visit is during either of the two festivals that are celebrated annually – Taste of the Valley in April and Spring in the Valley in October. You can also re-trace the old wagon trail along Swan Valley, a unique type of joyride that gives tourists a chance to admire local art, view historic sights and taste even more fine wines.
Traveling down south leads to a hilly area where bush tours on horseback are available. Rock climbing is a popular pastime in these parts. Families enjoy the Llama Leisure picnic (with real llamas) and the camel trek. There are guided flora and fauna walks to the Hills Forest Activity Center and the Kanyana Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. One activity which shouldn't be missed is the whale-watching tour of Rottnest Express from September to December. There are also dive tours offered at Rottnest Island.
