Hobart is the capital and most populous city of the island state of Tasmania, the island state of Australia. Hobart city centre is 15 km from Hobart International Airport and frequent flight services are available from Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, and Brisbane.
Hobart is a riverside city with a busy harbor serving as the home port for both Australian and French Antarctic operations. The mountain backdrop offers fine views over the beautiful Georgian buildings, numerous parks, and compact suburbs below.
Hobart has a mild temperate and oceanic climate with temperatures ranging between 40.8°C and -2.8°C and with four distinct seasons. Tasmania's reputation for cold, wet weather is definitely justified. During Hobart's winter you can see the gorgeous panoramic views of the snow covered hills around Hobart between September and November.
However, the summer season delivers warm swimming weather and plenty of sunshine. The most temperate time of year is during the autumn - March to May.
This picturesque little city, which is a busy seaport and the world leader in high speed catamaran ferries, also has a vibrant tourist industry. Tourists come to this city to explore its historic inner suburbs, visit the weekly craft market in Salamanca Place, as well as to use the city as a base from which they can explore the rest of Tasmania.

The Royal Tasmanian Botanical Garden is the second oldest Botanic Garden in Australia and is a popular recreation area which is located a short distance from the city center. The annual Tulip Festival is a very popular spring festival that attracts scores of people every year.
